During the day you can wear casual or swimwear, in the ships main restaurants attire for breakfast and lunch is casual wear (excluding shorts). Generally, evening dress may be either formal, informal or casual. There will be a maximum of three formal nights in a week. Dress codes are defined as follows: Formal: Black tie or formal dark suit for men. Evening dress or other formal attire for women. Informal: Jacket and tie for men. Cocktail dress or trouser suit for women. No jeans. Elegant Casual: Jacket, no tie required for men (no jeans or shorts). Dress, skirt or trousers for ladies.

Lifts and certain sections of public rooms have been designated no smoking areas. Guests who enjoy pipes or cigars are accommodated each evening in the Churchills Cigar Lounge aboard Queen Mary 2. There is a no smoking policy in all Queen Mary 2 restaurants. On the Queen Mary 2 the public bars and lounges, the starboard side areas, where possible, will be set aside as the designated smoking area. On board all three ships, smoking is permitted in staterooms.
