Cruises from Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and is located along the Persian Gulf. It is the second most populated area in the United Arab Emirates with approximately 850,000 people living in the city. The only area more populated than Abu Dhabi is Dubai. Abu Dhabi also happens to be one of the biggest oil producers in the world.

The climate in Abu Dhabi is fairly hot. In the summer months between April and September visitors can expect temperatures as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit. During this period of time tourists should also be aware that sandstorms do happen and can severely reduce visibility. During November and March the temperature is cooler although fog may be an issue instead of sandstorms.

Tourists visiting Abu Dhabi will be able to take advantage of a newly implemented bus service. There are four basic routes that cover a good amount of area and are scheduled to pick-up pretty regularly. Over the next few years the number of lines is expected to expand to over twenty. Taxis are also available to transport visitors to wherever they need to go. Walking in Abu Dhabi is not encouraged because of the heat and lack of pedestrian infrastructure.

When visiting Abu Dhabi you will not want to skip a visit to Khalifa Park. While it cost several million pounds to construct, it offers numerous things to keep everyone in the family entertained. Khalifa Park has an aquarium and a variety of different parks where kids are free to play. You do not want to miss the opportunity to visit the formal gardens in Khalifa Park as well.

Abu Dhabi is also home to the one of the most interesting flagpoles that you will likely not forget seeing. It is the tallest freestanding flagpole in the world at 400 feet high. It is hard to miss when you are nearby. A very large United Arab Emirates flag is flown from the flagpole. When the flagpole was constructed it shattered the previous record set in Vancouver, Canada of only 282 feet.

Several resorts in Abu Dhabi offer desert safaris to their guests. This is a great way to check out the desert and will certainly provide some unforgettable moments. A basic desert safari will likely provide you with a camel ride and a meal. These trips frequently need to be booked in advance so make sure to plan accordingly for your trip so that you do not miss out on this fun opportunity.

One of the most popular things that tourists will do in Abu Dhabi is shop. There are many places that offer a large variety of selection in terms of shopping. Al Wahda Mall is a newer mall that contains a number of upscale stores and has a very large market located inside. There are a number of small independently owned shopping areas around Abu Dhabi as well. Many stores will haggle with you over price but this is more common for independent stores than big name stores.
