Cruises from Buzios

Buzios was founded in the sixteenth century, by European pirates and slave traders and became a bustling fishing village. Known for its rustic charm, architectural harmony and hedonistic style of relaxation, it is a magical land of beauty and uniqueness. Located about 105km north of Rio de Janeiro, Buzios is an international resort area, catering to those who enjoy fun and frivolity.

Buzios offers tourists a choice of more than twenty-five sandy beaches, where the water is crystal-clear. The nightlife is unequalled and the standard of accommodation is excellent. There many activities to choose in this lovely city, which is filled with scenic views, historical sites and recreational attractions. The best-known resort in Brazil is the Armação dos Búzios, situated on a peninsula surrounded by 8km of island and beaches.

Among the favourite beaches is the small, João Fernandinho Beach, with calm, crystal- clear water, where bars serve lobster and other seafood. Geribá Beach is perfect for water sports such as surfing, boogie boarding and windsurfing. Ferradura Beach, one of the areas most beautiful beaches, is on a horseshoe-shaped bay. The water here is calm and clear and a variety of bars serve ‘Buzios Style’ meals and drinks.

Shopping is fun along the Rue das Pedras, where you can find small intimate shops and sophisticated stores filled with items to please and satisfy your tastes. There are also art shops, fashion shops, crafts, souvenir shops and many more. Go to Totem Beach for light and informal ware or find the perfect bikini at Lenny and Aqualung. There is high-end men’s clothing at Richard’s and pay a visit to the Bardot Seashore, at the end of Rue das Pedras, where Tenda has a large variety of styles from fourteen well-known brand names.

There are many activities to keep you busy once you tire of the beaches and shopping. Try some ecological activities by visiting one of the reserves or take a hike on one of the many trails that wind their way through the Atlantic Forest. If golf is your sport, take a tour or play a round at the Buzios Golf and Club Resort. Take a leisurely stroll around the city and get a good look at some of the attractions you may have missed. Why not go to see a movie, go bowling or work out at one of the fitness centres.

Nightlife is alive and well on the main strip, Rua das Pedras. Though you might not want to try bar hopping, since there are so many bars of various types and styles. Among them are the Ponto Bar, Captains Bar, Anexo’s Bar and the Zapata, which is a traditional Mexican oriented bar that is usually packed to the rafters. There are also shows and nightclubs to help you while the night away. Try Privilege Nightclub, an excellent spot to visit if you want to dance the night away. Alternatively, if you are in the mood to just sit and listen to the music while dining, try the Café do Cinema.
