Cruises from Fuerteventura

If you are looking for an excellent place to spend your vacation you may want to visit Fuerteventura. You may have never heard of Fuerteventura, but you have probably heard of the Canary Islands; Fuerteventura is an island off of the coast of Africa and is the second largest island in the Canary Islands, measuring 100 kilometres long and approximately 31 kilometres wide. Fuerteventura can be a great adventure for any traveller looking for astounding beaches, a fascinating history and lots of beautiful sights to behold.

Fuerteventura is beautiful all year round with mild temperatures that fluctuate between 15 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius. The winters normally range from a warm 21 degrees Celsius and drop to 15 degrees Celsius at night. The summers enjoy a high of 27 degrees Celsius. It hardly ever rains in Fuerteventura, but if it does it’s usually during the winter months. Be careful, due to its proximity to Africa and the Sahara Desert, Fuerteventura often sees the likes of sandstorms which create much hotter conditions, dry air and virtually no visibility.

Even though Fuerteventura is known for its tourism, it is still new in the business. The first hotel and airport in the region was built in the 60s, making this island still untouched as far as major tourist attractions are concerned. Therefore, you will see that the island is well preserved and that it maintains all of its local culture. Even the landscape has hardly been interfered with, offering you a spectacular panoramic view of the natural wonders of this island.

Many people come to Fuerteventura for the incredible surfing which is created by the trade winds in the Atlantic Ocean. The water has not been interfered with by pollution and so the sea is crystal clear, making it a paradise for all who enjoy the sea and beach. Sailing, scuba diving, fishing and snorkelling are major attractions to enjoy at Fuerteventura.

Additionally, Fuerteventura has an incredible beach landscape, from silky white sands to volcanic black ash. It also has large open plains, mountains and lavascapes with volcanic mountains which create the black volcanic ash on the beaches. These landscapes can be viewed through an organised guided hiking tour. Mount Jandía is the highest point on Fuerteventura Island and you can hike along here in order to visit the Maxorata side, the Jandía Peninsula side and the Istmo de la Pared side of the island.

Some of the most popular destinations in Fuerteventura include the Villa Winter, the site of the SS American Star, which has now been completely submerged, Corralejo and el Jable. There are more than 150 beaches that go along the coast of Fuerteventura. These beaches make excellent places to spend the day walking along the coast, surfing in the sea, sunbathing or simply relaxing with friends and family.

Fuerteventura is an excellent destination to soak up the sun and relax. You can feel at peace with yourself in the midst of the exquisite beauty that this island has to offer.
