Kralendijk is the capital and largest city of Bonaire. The area, which has a population of just over 3,000, is a popular spot for activities such as snorkelling and diving.

Bonaire tends to be generally sunny all year round, so Kralendijk is ideal for those looking for plenty of sun on their holiday. There is some rainfall, but the weather is still humid, though it tends to get cooler in the evenings. Bonaire has a yearly average temperature of 26.7°C.

There are many beaches surrounding Kralendijk that are ideal for spending time relaxing in the sun. The waterfront promenade is the prefect spot for a leisurely stroll and the beaches are located near to a variety of shops and food markets.

There are plenty of fun activities in and around Kralendijk and Bonaire. Bonaire is well known for its diving spots, so if you are feeling adventurous then you may wish to go scuba diving. Just out of Kralendijk is the Sailing Regatta, which is similar to a carnival. The Sailing Regatta takes place every October, on the second week. It is the perfect attraction for those who love sailing as well as for those who love a fun atmosphere.

During your stay in Kralendijk, you may wish to attend one of Bonaire’s many interesting festivals. In addition to the diving festivals, there is also The Simadan Festival, a harvest festival that has a variety of songs and dances. For a bit of culture, Rincon Day is worth a visit. This festival explores the traditions and culture of Bonaire.

Another interesting historical attraction is the white stucco huts, which were once the homes of slaves who worked as salt workers. The area is well worth a visit if you wish to explore the history of slavery in Bonaire. Rincón village, which is the oldest village in Bonaire, was also used by slaves. The area now consists of a number of bars and is ideal for visiting to explore a bit of history and enjoy a drink.

Bonaire Museum is another interesting attraction, which is located just outside of Kralendijk. This contains a variety of artefacts that explore many of the different cultures on the island.

One of the most popular attractions in Bonaire is the Bonaire National Marine Park. Packed full of activities such as fishing, boating, kite surfing, kayaking and other various water activities, this park is definitely worth a visit during your stay in Kralendijk. It is the ideal attraction for those looking for an active and fun day out. Admission fees vary depending on which activities you choose and there are day passes available. The park is also ideal for educational trips and there are a number of programs available.

For food, Kralendijk has a variety of food markets and many restaurants can be found in Bonaire. There is a variety of cuisine available, including Italian, Chinese and Indonesian.

There are a variety of shops in Kralendijk, some of which are located near to the waterfront promenade. Bonaire has a few bookstores, jewellery stores and a variety of clothes and souvenirs.

Kralendijk is conveniently located near to many of Bonaire’s fun activity areas, so this is the perfect holiday destination for those who love water activities, festivals and exploring a bit of history and culture.
