Malacca is a Malaysian state that is located on the Straits of Malacca. It is Malaysia’s third smallest state, with a population of nearly 750,000. Malacca is a very historical city and its selection of interesting buildings makes it popular amongst tourists.

Malacca does experience heavy rain at various points throughout the year, though mainly between October and March. The weather is generally warm and the dry months are usually from May until July. Temperatures can reach up to as much as 35°C during the day and up to 29°C at night.

Malacca has many beautiful beaches. Tanjung Keling, which is not far from town, is made up of many sandy beaches that are ideal for swimming, canoeing or having a picnic. Fresh seafood is available from food stalls along the beach. Another ideal beach for swimming or a picnic is Pantai Kundur, which is also ideal for night-fishing. If you enjoy water activities such as water-skiing then Tanjung Bidara is the perfect beach to visit. It also has several picnic spots.

Malacca has many interesting places to see. Amongst the many historical buildings is St Paul’s Church, which was constructed in 1521. There is also Christ Church, which was constructed between 1741 and 1753. Both churches are used as burial grounds for the Dutch.

Another interesting attraction is the Portuguese Settlement. The Portuguese conquered Malacca in 1511 and this settlement is the home of their descendants. This area has a selection of special events and cultural shows as well as a selection of restaurants and is definitely worth a visit.

There are a couple of temples that are worth visiting. Poh San Teng Temple is one of them and was founded in 1795. The other is the Geok Hu eng Temple, which has a long history and is located out of the town, at Klebang and Jalan Pokok Mangga.

For those who are looking for something different from historical attractions, there is Malacca Zoo, which was established in 1963. The zoo has a variety of different species of animals, including giraffes, deer, emu, ostrich and much more. The zoo is open daily from 9:00am until 6:00am and it is also open at night Friday and Saturday and on holidays from 8:00pm until 11:00pm.

For some relaxation, there is the Recreational Forest Ayer Keroh. This area, which opened in 1984, is perfect for visitors who wish to take a relaxing walk and explore the area, and has play areas for children and a Prehistoric Garden. The area is also ideal for picnics and has a number of watch towers, which make it a good area for family outings.

For places to eat, Malacca has variety of restaurants that offer a selection of different cuisine, including Chinese, Peranakan and much more. There are also a selection of cafés and bars, some of which offer live music. The street food is also worth trying.

One of the most popular places for shopping is Jonker’s Walk, which offers a variety of stores. There is also Dataran Pahlawan Mega Mall, a large mall that is perfect for those who wish to spend a day shopping.

Malacca is perfect for those who enjoy exploring historical attractions. It may not be ideal for those who are looking for an adventurous holiday, although the beaches do offer many fun activities and the zoo and recreational park are perfect for families.
