Cruises from Puntarenas

Puntarenas is a lovely area off of Costa Rica full of exciting adventures. It is located on the Pacific Side of the country and is home to various beaches that run along its coastline. You can also go to the Puntarenas beach which is located in the city of Puntarenas. It is easy to travel to any of these locations from Costa Rica’s capitol, San Jose. To get to Puntarenas city, you can take a direct bus that takes about two to three hours. When you get to the bus station the beach is straight ahead. You can stay there or get onto a local bus that will take you to a variety of other great beaches.

There is also one of the most important Costa Rican ports located in Puntarenas, called Caldera. Here there are a variety of cruise ships that dock and can take you to different areas. Another experience to behold is a cruise of the Nicoya Gulf by ferry which takes about an hour. This ferry connects you from one side of the province of Puntarenas to the other, where you will be able to get to the other beaches such as Montezuma and Mal País.

Monteverde is a town which holds one of Costa Rica’s natural seven wonders, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve. You can take a guided tour through the preserve. Monteverde is a small town near Puntarenas city and you can get there by bus. There are less than one thousand people that live in this small community.
