Cruises from Sharm el Sheikh

The city of Sharm el Sheikh is located on the tip of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. It is surrounded on three sides by the Red Sea with Mount Sinai located not too far away. The marina that is located in Sharm el Sheikh features a cruise port as well as access for yachts and sailboats.

Sharm el Sheikh has gained in popularity over the years as being a spectacular site for diving. The areas surrounding the city contain coral gardens and huge reefs which are up to 2,600 feet tall. One contributing factor that makes this an excellent dive spot is the warm water of the Red Sea which stays between 70 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit year round.

The weather is fairly good in Sharm el Sheikh year round as well. Visitors might enjoy a visit to the area in the winter months when average temperatures range between 59 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The summer months in Sharm el Sheikh can see temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, although typically in the 90s.

Those visiting Sharm el Sheikh will likely make their way to Naama Bay. This particular area has numerous resorts with breathtaking views of the beachfront that runs along the area. Guests can walk along a promenade that runs along the beach while heading to dinner at one of the many restaurants nearby. Several shops are available for some excellent shopping during your trip. Visitors in Naama Bay will be able to locate just about anything that they are looking for in terms of merchandise. There are even banks in this particular area.

Another popular area in Sharm el Sheikh for tourists is Shark Bay. Vacationers can enjoy wonderful views of the mountains and excellent golf. The area is well known for the incredible diving that can be enjoyed there. While not quite as popular a tourist destination as Naama Bay, many enjoy the upscale resorts and spectacular views that the area provides.

In about three hours a person can travel from Sharm el Sheikh to Mount Sinai where they can also visit the Monastery of St. Catherine. Those that choose to visit the area will have an opportunity to climb the famous mountain which has been said to be the spot where the Ten Commandments were presented to Moses by God. The Monastery of St. Catherine is home to an Ossuary which holds 1400 skulls belonging to monks that have lived at the monastery over the years. Moses’ Well is also located at the monastery and is said to be the spot where Moses met his wife.

There are a variety of other fun things that can be done in the area including camel trekking. Take a tour of the Sinai desert on the back of a camel and enjoy an unusual activity that will be remembered for years to come.

Because of the cities location near the Red Sea a variety of water sports are also available to tourists as well. Aside from the popular diving activities, visitors can enjoy parasailing or a nice snorkel excursion.
