British passengers who want to cruise to Alaska will now have the opportunity. P&O Cruises has announced the addition of a new itinerary that sails from Southampton to Alaska.
This is the first time in more than 3 decades that the cruise line has offered an Alaskan itinerary.
Passengers will be able to take advantage of a 72-night sailing to Alaska. The itinerary is scheduled to take placed on board P&O Cruises’ Arcadia. This cruise ship is restricted to adults only. The Alaskan itinerary will depart from Southampton in April of 2011. Prices for the round-trip cruise are expected to start around 6,999 pounds per person.
During the sailing, the cruise ship will stop at 29 ports of call. Aside from spending time in Alaska, passengers will also enjoy trips to Vancouver, New York, and Los Angeles. Arcadia will also visit several tropical ports including St. Lucia, Barbados, and Aruba.
Carol Marlow, the managing director of the cruise line said “P&O Cruises is the only cruise line offering Alaska as an ex UK option and combining it with the East and West coasts of the US makes a contrasting and enticing itinerary. Taking Arcadia to Alaska and following in the wake of her namesake, forty years on, fulfils a long held ambition for us."
The grand voyage is expected to return to Southampton towards the end of June. P&O Cruises is also offering extended itineraries departing from Southampton and sailing to both Los Angeles and San Francisco.
