With cruising becoming such a popular form of holiday for many travellers, cruise lines are looking for new ways to keep their passengers entertained. Cunard just announced that passengers sailing on selected itineraries will be treated to a series of lectures.
Starting in April, Cunard will launch a series of lectures for passengers on board Queen Mary 2. The luxury cruise ship will be sailing on a number of transatlantic itineraries between the United Kingdom and the United States. The cruise line has announced that a variety of people have been asked to participate in the lectures, including broadcasters, politicians, and ambassadors.
Cunard has already verified that Jeffrey Weinberg, a White House correspondent will participate in one of the lectures. Professor Iwan Morgan from the University of London will also participate in the lecture series.
The President of Cunard, Peter Shanks, said "When Cunard began its transatlantic liner service 170 years ago, it began a tradition of bridging the United Kingdom and the United States. With this programme, we will bring to life and explore the historical connection between these two countries with our guests, who have expressed great interest in the subject.”
Cunard is not the first line to offer lectures to their passengers. Princess Cruises also recently announced a similar deal for passengers sailing on selected ships in their fleet. Instead of focusing on the ties between the UK and US like Cunard, Princess is offering a variety of lectures with a Valentine’s Day theme.
